S. E. Hinton

The Outsiders, That Was Then; This is Now, and so forth. I'm sure most people here have read her works, since every school district I know about shows at least one of those books to their students.

Hinton is still one of my favorite authors. Her writing is easy to read, and she made me love her characters. I prefer TWTTIN over The Outsiders, but both are exceptionally good reads. I also enjoyed Tex, which is weird since I'm usually turned off by books done in the 'South' with 'Southern' themes.

No... none of those books are Fantasy or Scifi. The majority of S E Hinton's books are about young adult struggles. I remember reading The Outsiders and Tex in high school. The Outsiders is a great book!

Here are some more of S E Hinton's books:

The Outsiders (1967)
That Was Then, This Is Now (1971)
Tex (1979)
Taming the Star Runner (1979)
Big David, Little David (1995)
The Puppy Sister (1995)
Hawkes Harbor (2004) This is NOT FOR TEENS. Sexual situations, violence and language.
Rumble Fish (1975)
