Me, me, me! I'm Mark, I'm a pilot who started to write Whilst stuck in the Falklands one dark, dirty night. I'm tall and I'm slim with my hair cut quite short. I guess that's because I'm the milit'ry sort! I'm married with children, a boy and a girl. The tales of their antics would make your toes curl! They're darlings, they're cuties, they're all that and more, But come to their bedtime - I'm flat on the floor! I'm older than some, coming up thirty nine. I'm starting to grey, but that suits me just fine. My eyes, when they're open, are bright sapphire blue, But bloodshot from writing all hours the night through. I write when I'm fresh and I write when I'm tired. I write to relax, so I write when I'm wired! I mainly write fantasy; stories for teens. I hope this will make me a man of some means. My first full-blown novel told of a bright sword, That's forged out of magic - I'm sorry - you're bored? Let's skip to the end then, let's not temporize, The last has assassins, and shrewd female spies. I've been there, I've done it, I've seen many sights. I've been to the op'ra, I've seen men in tights! I know, I'm a charmer, with dev'lish good looks. Admit it, you're tempted to go buy my books! ![]() Last edited by Mark Urpen; 13th April 2005 at 11:36 AM.

Re: Me, me, me! Very nice Mark! BTW, I'm off to the library today and have decided that I need to request that they carry a copy of your books (as well as that of Kelpie, etc.). Whether it does any good or not, who can say but it can't hurt!

Re: Me, me, me! Yes, that is a good idea (and much appreciated by the writers in question); it's just possible that your library doesn't stock much fantasy because they think no one is interested. Of course, if the head librarian is one of those people who think that reading fantasy promotes devil worship, you're probably out of luck. (Although then, come to think of it, you could write an angry letter to the editor of your local newspaper -- being sure to mention our books by name -- start a national controversy, get scads of free publicity for Mark and me ...)
