Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

I'm new here and I don't want to offend anyone. When you consider this is my second post I'm probably taking a risk, but here goes. (I'd post pics but I'm not allowed as of yet)

I'd like to suggest Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. I know not a terribly original idea but I can't read Tyrion without picturing Mr. Dinklage. He has the wit needed to deliver Tyrion's lines, the best in the book IMHO.

My other is Michael Sheen as Littlefinger. He played the werewolf Lucian in Underworld and the Priest that Bloom kills at the beginning of Kingdom of Heaven.

Just a suggestion but let's try to be realisitc with these picks. Brad Pitt is entirely too busy snogging Angelina Jolie to play Jamie Lannister and Angelina Jolie is entirely too busy leading Brad Pitt around by his (censored) to play Cersei Baratheon. Post pics if you have them, that'd be nice.

Thanks for playing!

OK, what HBO series and who the hell is Peter Dinklage.

Check out:

Is see Bill Nighy as Victarion and David Carradine as Tywin or Doran Martell.

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Sorry. HBO has acquired the rights to aGoT and GRRM will be a co-executive producer. Each season will be based upon a book in the series. Sorry, I can't post a link, as of yet I'm not allowed. Check mania.com or scifi.com for news or see the thread just below that contains all of the "oh my God's."

Peter Dinklage is a "little person" actor who co-starred in the CBS scifi drama Threshold. He's pretty good and he's just got the wit and charisma that Tyrion must have.

I'd love to see Daniel Craig in it, he could be Ned Stark, or a dozen other characters!

I think he'd be a great as Ser Jorah Mormont. Don't you think he'll be a bit busy the next few years though?

Check out this website A Song of Ice and Fire

Some of the castings are great (e.g. Doran Martell=Ciaran Hinds , Oberyn Martell=James Purefoy, two of the actors from Rome)

some of them are wishful thinking.

But you'll enjoy seeing who 'they' (from the AsoIaF board) have chosen.

E: LOOL!! they've got Matt Lucas as Varys!

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Hehe I have to peruse that list again there were some Great Choices, but I'm sorry need leave Cast members of That 70's Show, the OC and Hulk Hogan out of it.

And the Actor who played the emporer in Star Wars, it will hard for me not see him discussing the force in Westeros.

But I did like Ben Kingsley as Syrio for some reason. Ooh and Michael Chiklas as Biter was good too.

Gabrielle Reece as Brienne? Sure shes tall, but a former model can hardly befit the "homliness", but then again there is always make up.

I also like Ed Harris as Tywin.

I always saw more of a John Malkovich as Varys.

The choice for Cersei is lame. I see more of a Daryll Hannah (à la Elle Driver from Kill Bill).

Brienne needs to be big and ugly. Hence Rosie (and no I'm not a Donald Trump fan )

This is a fun thread althought I have the feeling there was another one before ).

Always liked the idea of John Malkovich as Roose Balton and Benicio Del Toro a Oberyn Martell

I dont picture davos as a tall strong man physically, but rather short and wiry, you know like a sailor who needs to climb and be able to get into small places.

Gary Oldman is tall no, also much depends on his hair lenght.
(He is the guy portarying Sirius Black in Harry Potter right)

Good to see everyone take note....

I honestly think that if this comes around, it'll be a case of unknowns, with a smattering of slightly less unknowns. Even second and third teir players like Oldman, Malkovich, del Toro, Hannah et al aren't likely to figure. I'd definitely prefer it to be people we haven't seen before, so there's no baggage. And, if possible, mostly British, European, or Antipodean. I couldn't cope with a Westeros liberally smattered with American accents. It's not that I've got anything against y'all, though, mind.

Ohhh, don't spoil our fun. We know that it will mostly be unknowns with a couple of recognizable names to anchor the series (think Jeremy Irons as Ned...).

And, God forbid if we heard "g'day mate" on the set as well (this is my tongue firmly entrenched in my cheek )

Re: Is it okay to discuss casting for the HBO series?

Well I look at HBO mini-series like Rome, or short lived series like Deadwood and try to cast off there.....theres always a chance for an occasional home run though (like Battlestar Galactica getting Edwards James Olmos...who saw that coming?)....

So you'll have some whodats?, an occasional "oh that guy was great in..." and one or two "holy crap, I guess he needed the money" kind of guy.

Of course occasionally youll get a movie like Black Hawk Down which takes longer in post production than it should then when it does come out youll be scratching yer head trying to figure out why Orlando Bloom dies in the first 10 mins....not that he doesnt deserve to for Elizabethtown or whatever that movie was.

So what I suggest is try to name yer home run canidates (or six pencer for those cricket players out there) and then try to name a few minor actors with accompanying links......

That being said....Barristan freakin Selmy--Sean Connery!!!!woot!!!!

And dont ya know Culwch, everyone will have british accents....Im still trying to figure out how Rome was a satellite of the british commonwealth before it even began....what with all the accents and all....
