| Re: Angie Sage... I just checked it out from the library last weekend - sadly they gave me the Spanish version by accident! So, I'll have to see if I can get it exchanged this weekend. I'll let you know what I think of it after that. |

| Re: Angie Sage... I like it so far, I'm two-thirds through Flyte. Although, doesn't it sound a little like plaegerism to you? There are just some parts that sound so much like other books I've read, like Harry Potter and Eragon. Don't get me wrong, the books are good and original in their own right, their are just some parts that aren't so original. |

| Re: Angie Sage... I have Magyk on my shelf and will get around to it eventually. I've heard some good things about this author, so I look forward to reading it. However, in the meantime I will be reading Pirates! by Celia Rees in preparation for the interview later in the summer. |

| Re: Angie Sage... Thought I'd resurrect a rather old thread! I've finally got around to reading Magyk... I'm only 1 year and 4 months late... *slaps own wrist*... I thoroughly enjoyed Magyk and am rather gutted because neither of my local Waterstone's have Flyte in stock... grrrr... The story flowed brilliantly, you like the characters you're supposed to like and despise those you're not, her humour is rife throughout and it made me smile in many places, it even raised a few chuckles and although it did remind me of other books (Potter, Eragon, and even Garth Nix's Abhorsen trilogy) it didn't intrude on her own unique style and didn't take away from her own story in any way. I mean no disrespect to the author when I say this but Magyk was the perfect gap-book, it was light, entertaining and just a wonderful tale. Perfect for those times when you need a break from the heavier going, more epic fantasies out there... I shall be keeping a keen eye out for Flyte... xx |

| Re: Angie Sage... I am a bit surprised that this is listed under Young Adult. Angie's books are definitely for what we call the Junior market in the UK, i.e. 8-12s. But perhaps they have a wider appeal because they are fantasies? Anyway I've heard that film rights have been sold so all those of you who have been enjoying the books will have something else to look forward to. Mary |
